DOUBLE REVIEW: "Dr. Strange: Triumph and Torment" (1989) and "Secret Invasion" (2008)

Been a while, just trying to stay caught up with new series, and won’t be writing full reviews anymore, but I just finished “Dr. Strange: Triumph and Torment". A great graphic novel from when Marvel was doing that for a while in the late 80's. It is only about 80 pages so easy to read it in one sitting, but that is also due to the fact that I couldn’t put it down. Overall, it is a great Dr Strange story but also puts a lot of focus on Doctor Doom. Much of the backstory and development of doom started with this story. Great read for fans of either characters. I don't want to say too much because giving away too much of this would be a crime against this story, but if you have any interest in either of these characters I highly recommend this story.

Overall Score: 9.5/10

I also finished “Secret Invasion” today. Held as one of the greatest marvel crossovers by some, Secret Invasion is a tale of deceit and intrigue as Earth and its mightiest heroes have been infiltrated and replaced by the shape-shifting alien conquerors the Skrulls! They are everywhere. They take over SHIELD, SWORD, even the Avengers. Who can you trust when anybody can be a skrull? Maybe you’re a skrull reading this. It’s a high action story that makes you wonder who will take the metaphorical mask off to reveal a green face. However, predictable twists and lack of impact on the world as a whole (outside of one character who was already being sidelined) makes this thriller not a necessary read for Avenger fans. If you want an light and interesting crossover for one afternoon this will quench that thirst, but do not expect anything groundbreaking from the Skrull’s SECRET INVASION!!

Overall Score: 7/10
